Problems Logging Into Online Grades
If you are experiencing difficulty logging in, here are some things you can try:
1. Make sure the password is correct. All letters are in lower case. Do not confuse 0 and o, and l and 1.
IF THE BOX DOES NOT HAVE AN AREA IN WHICH TO TYPE THE PASSWORD, TRY THESE:
2. Make sure java applets are enabled. In the control panel (or under Tools in the Internet Explorer menu), choose Internet Options, click on the Security tab, and then click Advanced. Make sure anything about java and scripting is enabled. Or, you can slide the security bar down to medium (but this can be dangerous when on other web sites so you may not want to leave it there when you are not on chemistrygeek.com!)
3. Make sure Java is installed on your browser. You can check by going to http://javatester.org/version.html. Netscape should work fine. Older versions of IE work fine. New versions of IE (5 or later) often do not include Java. You can download for free Java VM (virtual machine) from java.com. For Windows users, here is a direct link: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp
IF THE BOX DOES HAVE AN AREA IN WHICH TO TYPE THE PASSWORD, BUT WHEN YOU HIT GO, IT SENDS YOU RIGHT BACK TO THE LOGIN PAGE:
4. Check your password again, and the class period.
5. If you have Netscape, try it. It's an easy way to avoid the security issues with IE.
6. You may have security or pop up blocker issues. Setting your security to medium should allow java applets to run. (Open IE, go to Tools > Internet Tools > Security and slide the bar down to "Medium". For directions on how to turn off your pop-up blocker, click here.
